The seamless pipe standard is in different way for different applications.

Mechanical seamless pipe (ASTM A53) is used in the general structure and the mechanical structure.
Fluid conveying seamless pipe (ASTM A106) is used for conveying water, oil, gas and other liquid.
Low temperature seamless pipe (ASTM A333) is used in low temperature pressure vessel pipe and low temperature heat exchanger pipe.

Alloy pipe with high temperature resistant, good low temperature resistant and corrosion resistance (DIN17175-79, ASTM SA335, and ASTM SA213) is applied in petroleum, chemical industry, electric power and boiler industry.
Stainless steel pipe (ASTM A213, ASTM A269, ASTM A312 and DIN17458) is widely applied in petroleum, aviation, smelting, food, water conservancy, electric power, chemical industry and medicine or machinery etc.

Seamless tube for general use is processed with 10#, 20#,30#, 35# and 45# high quality carbon steel or 16Mn、5MnV low alloy structural steel or 40Cr, 30CrMnSi, 45Mn2, 40MnB by hot rolling or cold rolled. Seamless steel pipe made with 10#, 20# low carbon steel is mainly used for fluid pipelines. Seamless steel pipe made with 45# and 40Cr medium carbon steel is used in manufacturing machinery parts such as the stress parts of automobile and tractor.

The production technology for seamless pipe includes cold-drawing, hot rolling and hot extruding.
