The thick walled welded steel pipe refers to the thickness of the tube body is more than 10mm. According to the production process and different weld seam, thick walled welded pipes can be divided into thick wall spiral welded steel pipe and thick wall straight seam welded steel pipe.

The main production principle of thick walled welded steel pipe: under the large diameter thick walled welded pipe, the temperature is above the recrystallization temperature through rolling and cold rolling. The ratio of the pipe diameter and wall thickness is less than 20. And the main usage is in petroleum chemical industry cracking tubes, petroleum geology drilling pipe, bearing tubes, boiler tubes, and high precision aerospace structural tube etc.

The difference between thick walled pipe and thin walled pipe: thin walled pipe adopts cold drawn technology, while thick walled pipe adopts hot rolling technology. If use the unit of measure to differentiate, generally considered the thick/diameter equal to 0.05 is a watershed thick walled pipe and thin walled pipes; thickness / diameter is less than 0.05 called thin walled pipe applied in the pipe line, while thickness / diameter is more than 0.05 called thick walled pipe used for hollow parts blank, pressure and the important line pipe use.
