The conventional systems have a dedicated system which is different from the ship and marine engineering. Usually, the common ship service life is about 20 years. While the marine engineering ship service life is much longer up to 38 years. In addition, the conventional system of marine engineering includes drilling equipment systems, special mooring system, flare system etc. According to statistics, the consumption of ship steel pipe is 450 million tons annually. The standards of seamless marine steel pipe are GB, YB, and CB. Only 30tons large crude oil pipes are for the amount of up to tens of kilometers. Moreover, considering the same ship construction, the cumulative dosage is also large. A lot of pipes over 30.000, more than 90km in length, are the same ton level 2 to 3 times. Therefore, ship-building industry has become a big market for the seamless steel pipes.

The application of marine seamless steel tube is not in conventional system with a dedicated system but in ship constructed. Many constructions need a large amount of marine seamless steel tubes such as jacket, underwater steel piles, helicopter platform and torch tower etc. Steel pipes with special materials, the same diameter, reducer, and various wall thicknesses are widely applied for jacket, steel piles and wellhead impermeable sleeve. Most large diameter sizes of steel pipes are made from the rolled steel.

Special purpose of seamless steel pipes is in some specific working environment and working medium. For example, undersea pipeline is a typical special steel pipe with the demand for large, high strength, small tolerances and good corrosion resistance.
