carbon steel pipe classification and application

Carbon steel pipe is a kind of pipe with a hollow steel bar and has a wide scope in metal tubular goods which main elements are carbon. Due to unique production principles, the mild carbon steel pipe is mainly used in transporting fluids such as oil, natural gas, water, steam etc. Additionally, with good bending, torsional strength and lighter, carbon steel pipe is also widely used in the manufacturing of mechanical parts, structural applications, and general purpose casing, pilling as well as a variety of conventional weapons, and shells etc. Anson Steel as a professional carbon steel pipe supplier and manufacturer, we are strict in examining system for the pipes.

carbon steel pipe ASTM A335

Since the material has a broad market for the carbon steel pipes, which is ingot or solid tube through the perforation made capillary, then after hot rolling, cold rolling and cold drawing. According to manufacturing technology, carbon steel pipe is divided into hot-rolled carbon steel pipe and cold-rolled carbon steel pipe. According to the manufacturing methods, carbon steel pipe is divided into seamless steel pipe and welded steel pipe.

Hot-rolled carbon steel pipe (also named seamless hot-rolled carbon steel pipe) is divided into general steel pipe, low & medium pressure boiler steel pipe, high pressure boiler steel tubes, alloy steel pipe, stainless steel pipe, oil cracking tubes and geology steel tube etc.

Cold-rolled carbon steel pipe also includes carbon thin-walled steel pipe, alloy thin-walled steel pipe, stainless thin-walled steel pipe and cold drawn shaped steel tube. Hot-rolled carbon steel pipe diameter is usually larger than 30mm, wall thickness 2.5-75mm; while cold-rolled carbon steel pipe path to 6mm, wall thickness up to 0.25mm; thin-walled tube diameter to 5mm, wall thickness is less than 0.25mm. The dimensional accuracy of cold-rolled is higher than hot-rolled.
